Country Pubs

There is some lovely countryside surrounding Grantham, featuring some excellent country pubs; this page lists a few of our favourites. Please let us have your feedback on the pubs listed here, plus any which you think are missing from the list. Some of these pubs can be found in the latest Good Beer Guide.

Allington: Welby Arms
The Green, Allington, NG32 2EA

A large selection of real ales can always be found in this picturesque pub popular both with locals and customers from further afield. Excellent home-cooked meals available, as is comfortable en-suite accommodation. Look out for the pub quiz, which is reputed to be one of the best locally.

Barkston: Stag Inn
Church Street, Barkston, NG32 2NB

Everard's village local situated on the main Grantham to Lincoln bus route. The comfortable, modern bar features flagstone flooring. Two house beers are offered, as well as a guest ale, often from Brain's. Food is served in the main restaurant and a conservatory. The large beer garden is popular in the summer.

Barrowby: White Swan
High Road, Barrowby, NG32 1BH

Cosy, two-roomed stone cottage-style pub. Very popular with the locals. Good, home-cooked food is available at lunchtime during the week. Regular Sunday night quizzes are hosted in the small, cosy lounge. A well-maintained beer garden makes this an excellent place to visit during the summmer.

Little Bytham: Willoughby Arms
Station Road, Little Bytham, NG33 4RA

This traditional country freehouse, originally the booking office and waiting room for a private railway, offers beers from nearby Newby Wyke brewery, as well as real ales from all over the country. Tasty home-cooked food is available, as is B&B accommodation.

Oasby: Houblon Arms
Village Street, Oasby, NG32 3NB

An old establishment in a quiet village where time slips gently by. Excellent home cooking is available in the dining room, and there is a quiz on a Sunday. A real gem. Four cottages are available for B&B accommodation. Voted 2007 Country Pub of the Year by Grantham CAMRA.
